Magna Cum Laude

There is a serious problem going on in today’s public schools.  You probably know that national test scores are slipping, there is a deficit of good teachers, and that schools never have enough money.  What you might not have realized is how often teachers are having sex with their students.

That last shocking bit of information came to me from the website Fark.com.  Fark is a site that contains links to odd bits of news from around the world (usually with jokes about their content).  I’m a big fan of Fark, but after a while of visiting, I realized that there was a story about a student getting caught having sex with a teacher every single day.

Honest.

No.

Kidding.

Every.

Single.

Day.

After reading several of these articles, I realized that this problem was actually a solution.  Think about it for a moment.  How better to attract young people into a thankless career with few benefits and a low salary except telling them they can sleep with their students?  How better to motivate kids to study than to tell them their hot new teacher might sleep with them if they get their grades up?

Obviously doesn't have a hot teacher.

I don’t know about you, but I would have given up television, games, comic books, sleep, and regular meals.
